The ALTOUR-MED project recently achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of national seminars in Malta, Greece, and Italy. These events were crucial in advancing our mission to enhance the skills of tourism professionals and students while promoting sustainable and alternative tourism practices across the Mediterranean region.

On June 6, 2024, the ALTOUR-MED project partners met in Athens, Greece, to outline the next steps for the project. The focus was on organizing national seminars in Italy and Greece, which will likely be conducted in Italian and Greek respectively. Key actions were assigned, including the translation of the GUIDE and webinar presentations into these languages. These materials will be uploaded to the shared drive and the project website.

The Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS), leading the Altour-MED project, recently completed an international webinar focused on advancing alternative tourism education. This event successfully gathered professionals and educators from the tourism and Vocational Education and Training (VET) sectors across Europe. Hosted online, the webinar served as an effective platform for sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration among experts from Malta, Greece, Italy, and other countries.

Between June and November 2023, the third activity (A3) of the project ALTOUR-MED project (Alternative Tourism for the Mediterranean Region) – project n. 2022-2-MT01-KA210-VET-000096406 was completed. This activity consisted of organizing a Networking Event in each of the participating countries (Italy. Greece, Malta). The purpose of the event was to inform stakeholders of the local tourist ecosystem about the project, its objectives and upcoming activities, and start the creation of a network of stakeholders that will contribute to the development and/or validation of ArtourMED products.

The Kick-Off Meeting of the ALTOUR-MED project (Alternative Tourism for the Mediterranean Region) – project n. 2022-2-MT01-KA210-VET-000096406 took place on Friday 7th July 2023 in Malta at the headquarters of the Institute of Tourism Studies. On this occasion, all the project partners participated, namely Green Village and Education In Progress Italia, who began by presenting their association using slides.
